The Administration team behind Idyll Wine Co.

“Great things in business are never done by one person; they are done by a team of people” – Steve Jobs. We think our Admin department makes an incredible team, and are crucial in ensuring each day at Idyll runs smoothly. From processing all the bills, processing wages for 100+ staff weekly, preparing all financial reporting and sending stock across the nation to Australian supermarket chains, our Admin department is kept rather busy. Our Admin team also look after our Cellar Door, although this is only a small portion of their roles. Meet Allison, Elissa, Lauren and Tayla as they tell you more about being part of Idyll Wine Co!

Allison, Elissa, Lauren and Tayla

Tell us a little about yourself and how you’ve come to end up at Idyll?

Lauren: I’m a born and raised New Zealander from Nelson. I grew up in a very agricultural setting with horses back home. Since moving to Australia, I’ve worked in various corporate roles in Melbourne’s city but grew tired of the city office life. Working in Geelong is the best of both worlds, with a large company, outdoor space and a lifestyle similar to home.

Elissa: I have previously worked within the Geelong Wine Industry, and after a break from it for 5 years, this job came up and it seemed like the perfect time to come back.

Allison: I arrived at Idyll 16 years ago from an accounts background. I have seen the business transform over this time, with an extensive list of developments including our tank farm extension, a new bottling line, 2 canning lines and most recently our keg line.

Tayla: I actually started working at Idyll back in 2019 as a member of the packaging team, working on the canning and bottling lines. I left during Covid 2020, and have come into this new Admin role in 2021.

What do you enjoy most about working at Idyll Wine Co?

Lauren: The variety of work means no two days are ever the same. The team at Idyll is very diverse and collaborative, with individuals from all different walks of life. The environment is very supportive and the view from my office over the Vineyard is also incredible.

Elissa: I enjoy the challenge of my role, and the way the business is always evolving and adapting.

Allison: My favourite thing would have to be the amazing people I get to work with and that each day is so different from the last.

Tayla: The close-knit family environment at Idyll makes each day enjoyable. The view from the administration building is also a highlight.

Tell us a little bit about your role at Idyll Wine Co?

Lauren: I’m the Company Accountant at Idyll so my role includes a variety of numbers based tasks including costing and pricing reviews, anything tax related, cashflow management and forecasting duties.

Elissa: I do Sales Administration which consists of processing orders for domestic supermarkets – tasks include raising invoices, monitoring stock levels, monitoring production forecasts and arranging trucks to collect from our Warehouse. I also raise any invoices for contract packing customers, export orders as well as storage fees from our warehouse.

Allison: I am the Administration Manager at Idyll and take care of overlooking the whole admin process from payroll to paying creditors and accounts receivable.

Tayla: My official title is Administration Assistant, so my main tasks involve all reception duties, accounts payable and maintaining and serving in our Cellar Door.

What is your favourite product produced by Idyll Wine Co?

Lauren: The Idyll Geelong Blanc de Blanc is my favourite – it’s gift box also makes it great for gifting.

Elissa: The Idyll Victoria Shiraz is lovely but I am also enjoying the Idyll Victoria Sauvignon Blanc for warmer days.

Allison: It would have to be the Fat Pixie Strawberry and Lime Cider during the warmer months, and our Arcadian Shiraz for the winter months.

Tayla: The Rose cider and the Idyll Geelong Blanc de Blancs would have to be my favourite.
